  1. michelle says:

im from the philippines will this work in our country? or does it have to be unlocked? thanks

    • Arthur Dent says:

As far as we know, there’s no information about availability in the Philippines yet. But when it comes, we’re pretty sure it does not need any kind of unlocking – at least if you get an unlocked, sim free Nexus S. Part of Google’s philosophy with the Nexus S is that it should be usable on any network, so if you get one without a contract, you should be good to go, no matter your sim card’s network.

hi, I bought a Nexus S in “best buy” on december, my nexus fell down the floor and the display has broken, can you fix it?, how can I solve the problem?

    • Arthur Dent says:

Hi! I’m afraid we are only a news blog. Perhaps it is best to get in touch with Best Buy and their Geek Squad service. Or else get in touch with Samsung directly. Good luck!

  5. Sanjay S says:

Hi! Recently i bought the Samsung Galaxy S I 9000 in Saudi Arabia but, there are certain features like maps, market, and some android applications are not uploaded or removed for some reasons in this country. I would like to know can i upgrade it to android 2.3, and how can i get back this applications in my phone again. I didnt have any idea about this new Nexus otherwise i could have bought it.
Kindly, provide me the information about this Galaxy S 8 Gb.

    • Arthur Dent says:

It certainly is possible to upgrade your Galaxy S to Android 2.3 Gingerbread, but it won’t be an official upgrade. It will require some effort. On the other hand, it is not yet certain when Samsung will provide an official Gingerbread update for the Galaxy S. If you want to know more, check out this page.

    Hi,
I am from Bangalore, India. I am on a Business trip to US and planning to Buy Google Nexus phone. Can I take the phone to India and will it work with mobile connections in India??

    Thanks
    Suresh Prasad

    • Arthur Dent says:

Basically, yes. The phone is sim-free, meaning it will work with any simcard. You might want check GSM bands used by your Indian carrier, with those of the Nexus S – it is most likely is not a problem, but just to make sure…

  7. Joe Tang says:

How can I know if the phone is with SUPER AMOLED or LCD?

    • Arthur Dent says:

It seems that the Nexus S GT-i9023 is the Nexus S with LCD, while the Nexus S GT-i9020 is the one with SuperAMOLED. However, there seems to be some confusion about this as some websites list a GT-i9023 model with SuperAMOLED. This could be a mix up, but to be safe, we suggest checking the detailed specs of the particular Nexus S you intend to buy – just to make sure…

  8. socrates says:

Could you tell me if there exists a direct synchronization of Nexus S with Outlook (calendar and contacts), without usiing Gmail? Many thanks

  11. joe says:

Do you know whether the Nexus S 4G works with carriers other than Sprint? E.g., if I buy the phone with no contract, would I be able to switch to T-Mobile if I wanted to for some reason? Can it be used with Verizon?
If not, will there be a carrier-independent version in the future?

  12. swetha says:

Hi is samnsung nexus s available in india, bangalore. one of the retailer said it is with the manufacture’s warranty for about 26.800

  13. Ferdi says:

Hi Arthur, when can we expect the phone’s arrival in South Africa?

    • Arthur Dent says:

Good question! There should be plenty of ‘grey’ (unofficial) import available by now, but it seems Vodafone (or is it called Vodacom over there?) has not released it yet. They have promised an SA release though, so they’re the ones to watch…

  14. sahib kochhar says:

hey plz can u tell me me is galaxy sl good or nexus s

    • Arthur Dent says:

Both are good phones… if you like Samsung’s TouchWiz interface, go for the Galaxy – if you like the native Android interface go for the Nexus S. It’s a matter of taste, really.

  18. Jeff says:

Have had this phone for 4 days and I don’t know how I have lived without it! This is actually everything I envisioned a phone to be to me. Good feel, good color, good snappy response, just a darn good phone. 2 1/2 yrs ago I had the 1st generation Instinct and liked the phone. then last year I thought I was upgrading to the Intercept! What a dissappointment. But, the Nexus S is a going to be lethal when Metro Detroit goes to 4G. Can’t wait!

Hi. I ordered a Samsung Nexus S 16GB. I realy can`t wait for it :D . What i`m interested in is Android 4.0. Is there an official release of that? If there is, is it available for this phone? If not realesed yet do you have any news about it and the availability for Nexus S? I read all kinds of articles and updates for Nexus S to Android 4.0 but i don`t know if it is something official or not. If you know any trusted place to get a copy of Android 4.0, i would really appreciate it.
